Home monitoring and energy

I’ve been playing with home monitoring since before I first owned a house, but I’ve not been very good at keeping notes. Recently I’ve started to get interested in solar panels for the house, and I’d like to be able to get data off them but it doesn’t seem to be obvious which kit makes this easy (without using companies cloud services, which I don’t really want to do), so I’m starting to make notes here....

What homebrew weather tracking can teach you about USB debugging

I bought a cheap and cheerful weather station a few years ago because it was on offer in Maplins (yes, I shouldn’t be allowed to go the on my own). Seeing what the weather is up to is interesting enough, but generating graphs and tracking over time is much more interesting. Luckily, the weather staions wireless display had a USB socket on the side and with a little Googling it turned out to be not too difficult to get working....
